“Trained nurses are always on duty in the
event of medical care being needed...”

Dementia care

Waypoints’ Homes are specifically designed to meet the varying needs of people with dementia and related conditions in a wonderful environment that is homely and relaxed.

Dignity is so important in the way that we deliver care to our residents. ‘Person Centred Care’ is therefore central to our philosophy and values. We give choice to our residents and a level of control back into their lives. We believe that people can live well with Dementia and enjoy an independent and dignified life.

Our homes are managed by highly qualified nurses who have great experience in the field of Dementia Care and staffed by teams that are committed to providing excellent person centred care. They recognise that a fulfilling life for our residents remains one which focusses on being positive and allows you to follow your aspirations.

Dementia can affect how people view food. It may decrease appetites or even leave people not recognising food or the fact that they are hungry. We ensure residents enjoy the eating experience and our homes provide a choice of two beautiful restaurants and a wide and varied menu serving food whenever it is wanted at any time of the day. If they prefer to eat in their rooms they can do that too.

Meaningful activity plays an important role in the care of someone with Dementia. We all have different hobbies and ways we like to spend our leisure time. Therefore we tailor all activities to suit an individual’s strengths, preferences and needs.

We recognise that dementia affects more people than the person with the condition and work closely with families and carers at all times during the decision making process and once their loved one is  a resident; particularly in the development of the care plan.

We also offer respite care breaks which can bring enormous benefits. Whether it is a temporary rest period for a few hours, a day or a block of time extending over weeks, caregivers can hand over the responsibility of looking after someone with dementia to us and invest in their own health and wellbeing.

Our homes form an important part of the local community and we encourage both our residents to participate in local events and activities and our local community groups to visit the home and meet with the residents.

Our homes are managed by highly qualified nurses who have great experience in the field of Dementia Care and staffed by teams that are committed to providing excellent person centred care.
