Promoting positivity in dementia care
Waypoints contributed to a major event in Cornwall with a talk by our Operations Director Carl Bradley about positivity and emotion in dementia care.
Carl presented his talk to about 150 people including carers and professional health and social care sector staff at the ‘Positive approaches for dementia’ conference.
The event showcased a range of topics including the success of the Admiral Nursing service in Cornwall, and advanced planning for end of life care.
Carl said: “Waypoints was delighted to participate in an event which celebrated and shared best practice and innovative approaches to dementia care.
“Hearing the success of the Admiral Nurses service in Cornwall will fuel the aspiration to introduce this invaluable support service in Dorset for carers of people living with dementia in their own homes.
“We more often hear of poor standards of health and social care and treatment of vulnerable members of our community but this conference reaffirmed there is first class care out there which is changing the experience of living with dementia for the better.”
The conference was jointly organised by Dementia UK (Cornwall) and Cornwall Care with grant support from The Tanner Trust. |
