Waypoints Launches ‘Make a Difference’ Schools Competition

At Waypoints, we are launching a schools ‘make a difference’ competition which ties in with the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Action Week (21-27 May 2018). The Dementia Action Week aims for ‘people to unite and take actions big and small to make a difference to the everyday lives of people with dementia’. So we decided to devise a competition to try to get as many local schools involved as possible and to help ‘make a difference’ to our residents who are living with dementia.

Waypoints’ competition aims to ‘make a difference’ to its residents’ lives by inviting creative entries from pupils from years 4/5/6, which could be a piece of artwork that perhaps makes residents smile, a craft item that could be decorative or useful, or a piece of writing, for example a story that Waypoints’ residents might like to listen to, or even a pupil’s personal experience involving dementia. Prizes will be awarded to the school with the best overall entries, a winning individual pupil’s entry as well as runners-up prizes.

The entry deadline is Monday 14th May and the competition results will be announced during Dementia Action Week (21-27 May). Please do keep an eye out for more info and updates on Waypoints’ facebook page.

How to enter our ‘Make a Difference’ competition:

If you are from a school and interested in entering our competition, or perhaps you would like to forward details on to a school, please request our competition pack, which will be emailed to you. To request a competition pack (or if you have any questions about the competition), please email the competition’s co-ordinator:

The competition is organised by Waypoints Care and is being co-ordinated by Mushroom Marketing.

Final Words of Encouragement from Waypoints!

Andrew Baxendine, Managing Director of Waypoints Care Group, said “As a specialist dementia care home group, we wanted to get as many local schools involved in Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Action Week as possible and to help ‘make a difference’ to residents who are living with dementia. It really does make a big difference to our residents when children interact with them – by sending in your pupils’ competition entries, you will be putting a really big smile on our residents’ faces! The Waypoints team are also really looking forward to judging all the entries, but don’t forget the deadline of 14th May as it is fast approaching. Good luck!
