Waypoints is new Upton in Bloom sponsor

Waypoints Care Group has signed up as a major sponsor of Upton in Bloom for the next three years.

The Dorset-based company has committed funding to create eye-catching planting near the former Greenridge public house site at Upton crossroads, where building works are scheduled to start this month (August) for a new Waypoints dementia care home.

Chairman of Lychett Minster and Upton Town Council and Chair of Upton in Bloom Cllr June Richards said: “This sponsorship support shows that Waypoints is committed to our community and it will help us greatly to have financial security of this kind to plan for the coming years.

“At a time when councils face difficult decisions with the pressure on public funding we cannot lose sight of the immense value of having pleasant well maintained surroundings. We know that the floral displays lift local people’s spirits as they go about their daily business and it presents a positive image to visitors. We cannot continue to do this without generous business sponsorship.”

Waypoints Managing Director Andrew Baxendine said: “We know, from the gardens and design of our care homes, that our sense of wellbeing can be enhanced by the environment we live in.

“We hope that our sponsorship of Upton in Bloom gives pleasure to the wider community and reflects our commitment to the town where we are investing £6.8 million in a new 64-bed dementia care home.”

Waypoints Upton home is scheduled to open autumn 2014.

Upton in Bloom is ‘Growing for Gold’ this year, having achieved a Silver-Gilt in the 2012 South and South East area competition.
